Dark Spiral – Real Money & Demo Play
Dark Spiral is a Japanese horror slot from Hacksaw Gaming. Its defining piece is the Summoning symbol, a tall block that opens into a stack of matching symbols and stretches its reel well past the usual four rows.
The Dark Spiral slot plays on 6 reels and 4 rows with 4,096 ways, rising to 331,776 when Summoning stacks land. Wins cascade, so winning symbols clear and new ones drop in. Three free spins bonuses, set by how many scatters land, each build on the one below.

Mirrors, Spirals and Red Eyes
The game is drawn in a manga and anime style and set in a mirrored room. Trapped girls scream inside it while their reflections smile back at them.
Most of the art is stark black and white, broken by sudden splashes of colour such as red eyes. Spirals run through the imagery, and the symbols lean into body horror, from a severed hand to a centipede and tentacles.
How to Play Dark Spiral
Each spin starts on the 6x4 grid with 4,096 ways to win. The paytable has three tiers:
Tier | Symbols | 6 of a kind |
|---|---|---|
Wild | Wild | 5x |
Premium (low → high) | Severed hand, hanged man, child with a tentacle in its mouth, centipede, blood-shot red eye | 1x - 3x |
Low | 10, J, Q, K, A | 0.5x |
Pays are multiples of your total stake.
The red eye is the top premium symbol. On any spin, the symbols to watch for are Summoning symbols on reels 2 to 5 and FS scatters, which lead to the bonus rounds.
Summoning Symbols and Expanding Ways
Summoning symbols land only on reels 2 to 5, in three sizes. Each one reveals a stack of a single paying symbol or of wilds:
Summoning size | Symbols revealed |
|---|---|
1x2 | 3–6 |
1x3 | 5–9 |
1x4 | 6–12 |
The stack makes its reel taller, and every extra position adds ways. A 1x4 Summoning symbol that reveals 12 symbols turns a 4-high reel into a 12-high one, taking 4,096 ways to 12,288. If reels 2 to 5 all reach 12, Dark Spiral hits its 331,776-way maximum.
Every position in a stack shows the same symbol. A win that runs through that reel is counted once for each of those positions.
Wilds and Summoning Growth
The wild substitutes for all paying symbols and also pays in its own right. Its second job is to make Summoning symbols bigger.
If a wild lands directly above or below a Summoning symbol on the same reel, the Summoning symbol grows to cover it. The wild’s position becomes part of the stack, so a wild in the right spot builds the stack rather than sitting next to it.
Cascading Wins
After every win, the winning symbols are removed and new ones drop into the gaps. This repeats until no new win forms, so a single spin can pay more than once.
Summoning symbols that are part of a win stay in place through the cascade. A tall stack can therefore keep contributing while new symbols fall in around it.
Dark Spiral Free Spins: Shattered, Twisted and Tortured
Scatters | Bonus | Spins | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
3 | Shattered | 10 | Summoning symbols land more often |
4 | Twisted | 10 | Summoning symbols turn sticky and reveal a new stack every spin |
5 | Tortured | 10 | As Twisted, with 2 Summoning symbols guaranteed on the first spin |
Each bonus keeps the mechanics of the one below it. Shattered plays like the base game, with Summoning symbols appearing more often.
In Twisted, every Summoning symbol that lands stays for the rest of the round and reveals a new stack, with new symbols, on each spin. That makes timing matter. A Summoning symbol landing on the first spin affects every spin in the round, while one on the final spin affects only that spin.
Tortured is the hidden Epic bonus, and it can only be triggered from the base game. Its 2 guaranteed Summoning symbols mean the sticky stacks are in place from the opening spin.
Scatters can retrigger all three bonuses.
Dark Spiral RTP, Volatility and Max Win
On BetWright Casino, this slot runs at 92.32% RTP. That figure is a theoretical average over a very large number of spins, and it says nothing about any one session. Either way, results are spread unevenly. The maximum win is 10,000x your stake.

More Games Like Dark Spiral
Growing reels, cascades and tiered bonuses all turn up in other games too. These four share at least one of them, and you can browse the full BetWright slots range for more.
- The Crypt: a Nolimit City slot on the same 6x4 grid, with cascading wins and reels that grow during play. Its xWays mystery symbols expand the grid up to 46,656 ways. The theme is rock legends rather than J-horror, xNudge wilds add multipliers, and the max win is 27,000x.
- Curse of the Werewolf Megaways: a Pragmatic Play horror slot with cascading wins and ways that change on every spin. Its reel heights come from Megaways rather than Summoning stacks, under a werewolf and full-moon theme.
- Le Vampire: another Hacksaw Gaming slot with the same 3-tier bonus ladder. Three or four scatters start two bonuses, and five unlock a hidden Epic bonus. It pays in clusters with Golden Squares and coin prizes, features a cartoon vampire raccoon, and has a 15,000x max win.
- SixSixSix: a demonic horror slot with three tiers of 10-spin bonus. Those bonuses come from Wicked Wheels with 5x–500x multipliers, not from scatters.
Play Responsibly
Gambling should be entertainment, not a way to make money. Dark Spiral can go many spins without a Summoning stack or a bonus, so decide on a budget and a time limit before you start, and stop when you reach either.
